I don't use it, don't twitter, don't even have a "smart" phone.
But yesterday I was having hard time getting assistance from AT&T, even posted here

And then I remembered that most corporations have Facebook sites where people can comment, or complain, or praise.
I asked my spouse - a Facebook user - to put a question onto AT&T Facebook. That was in the evening.
By yesterday morning there was already a reply with an email to contact the person, which we did.
By yesterday evening we got a reply to please tell the helper when it would be a good time to call us and he would connect us with their Digital Assist. And then another email, we can do it right now. Which we did and everything was resolved after me cleaning history and cache and everything else.
And I have to wonder of why the only and best way to get help from a corporation like AT&T is through their Facebook.
(Oh, the digital person started talking about Internet Explorer. We don't do IE; Safari or Firefox. He does not do Safari, so we "met" at Firefox...)

(39,343 posts)I've gotten upgrades on airlines (after being jerked around at the counter), freebies on other things, and have been able to get complaints remedied. You don't have to have a lot of followers either.

(25,183 posts)that does not tell of how stupidity was on display through Facebook or Twitter. They're both still marvelous places for people to show the idiocy that they used to keep relatively private.
What's also not so wonderful about social media is the addictive power it has over people who feel they need to do it while driving, I see that a lot.
