ras was diagnosed with a problematic thyroid at the VA about 6 weeks ago. He's been doing all the prep stuff they wanted him to do prior to surgery.
Last Friday he picked up some special soap at his last pre-op checkup. The nurse told him he needed to shower and then put this stuff on his neck twice before surgery. As she was handing the soap to him she looked him in the eye and said: "Be extremely careful you don't get this soap on your genitalia." When he told me I started laughing my ass off and this picture popped into my head:
I dropped him off at the West Roxbury VA Monday morning and picked him up yesterday. So far he's doing good.

(83,130 posts)The VA was excellent, although I have another scar on my neck, a rather ugly one at that, but it will become tolerable over the next 5-6 weeks. For the record, I had two benign nodules on the right and one malignant on the left. Since my thyroid is now gone, I'll be on synthroid, (or a derivative) for the rest of my life.
Please, when you go in for check ups, make sure they look over some stuff they normally wouldn't, make a list of things that are bothering you; and by all mans, ladies get checked out as far as mammograms and the like.
Peace to all,
Ras
