On the way home I heard 10 minutes of Hannity who was raving like a childish raving maniac (it is Tuesday). Aside from "Bergdahl converted to Islam" to "Bergdahl renounced his American citizenship" it got to ... now 14 American soldiers died looking for Bergdahl. I left work and it was 2 or 6 or 8 -- not in any way to trivialize their deaths -- now it is 14. Apparently Col. David Hunt said this on O'Reilly last night.
The furious search for Sergeant Bergdahl, his critics say, led to the deaths of at least two soldiers and possibly six others in the area.
Pentagon officials say those charges are unsubstantiated and are not supported by a review of a database of casualties in the Afghan war.
The most intense search operation, leaked war reports show, wound down after eight days well before the deaths of six soldiers on patrols in Paktika Province in late August and early September.
A second former senior military officer, who also was briefed on the Bergdahl investigation, said there was no direct evidence that diversion of surveillance aircraft or troops to search for Sergeant Bergdahl encouraged the Taliban attacks, or left other American troops vulnerable. This was a dangerous region in Afghanistan in the middle of the fighting season, the officer said in an email, adding that although the search could have created some opportunities for the enemy, it is difficult to establish a direct cause and effect.
A review of the database of casualties in the Afghan war suggests that Sergeant Bergdahls critics appear to be blaming him for every American soldier killed in Paktika Province in the four-month period that followed his disappearance.

(285 posts)Thought all the death from searching stories had been debunked? As have the death in capturing those who were released stories (debunked that is)

(23,946 posts)The GOP freaking lies and the freaking media just swallows it whole.
The real story is how GOP operatives were so, so ready to trot out the "comrades" of Bergdahl to quickly spread the character assassination and make then easily available to the media.
The freaking freaky GOP will not allow Obama even a smidgen of victory for returning a soldier home, America should be celebrating but the hate obsessed party once known as Republicans have gone all in fascist.
