From his wife:Here is my darling man smiling for me. This was last night and he had breathed on his own for a good part of the day. The tube in his nose goes to his stomach and some meds are dispensed through it. The blue tube and white bandage are his trach. The tube coming down on the right is probably one of the intervenous meds or method of feeding. Chris has the hardest time with tube-feeding. Today, they are operating to insert a tube to alleviate the gas in his belly. They are also inserting a feeding tube in his small intestine; it delivers nutrients in a much more efficient manner.

(5,420 posts)Do range of motion because the hospital does not do enough. Also if he doesn't have a footboard to keep his feet from dropping you should put some high top shoes on him. I was out for only 6 weeks and my legs were really bad.

(149,699 posts)But I am not there...
They have special leg things on him to keep his blood moving and he does get up from time to time.

(5,420 posts)I lost a lot of muscle and could not walk for a very long time plus the pain in my legs was bad. I had foot drop and was lucky it did not cause perm. damage. I was only in ICU for about 6 weeks. I wasn't getting up at all though and that could be a big difference.
Had the whole trache thing and breathing machine and all that. Just went to bed one night feeling like a storm was coming in coz my body was aching. Woke up 6 weeks later.
My legs are still not normal and I think it's been about 7 years ago now. But am very glad to be around. lol
Am very glad to see that he is continuing to improve.

The community of DU cares, CP, I know I do. Give him a hug for me and tell him that we are all thinking of him, and wishing for him to get better so he can include his acerbic wit in the forum .

(149,699 posts)I don't know when that will be, though; hopefully sometime this year.
He's a great hugger!

(149,699 posts)And then click on the tab on the left-hand corner, which is my Journal tab, and then go back to Page 3 of my journal, you will be able to read all the posts I've done about WCGreen and his surgery.
He had bad lung disease, and needed a double lung transplant, which he got this year on Jan. 2nd.
His wife has been posting updates on Facebook, and I've been bringing them here so all his DU friends would know what's happening.

(3,818 posts)I will go read your Journal. Now I remember something about him being in the hospital. Wow, a double lung transplant, I hope and pray all continues to go well for Chris.
