" One thing, however, is certain. Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this year's Presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the Nation's confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the rule of law."

(154,021 posts)but I no longer use that word here when it applies to the US. Trust me, we have a small group of very committed folks that will personally attack you. And it is getting worst by the year.

(14 posts)That's why we had to come up with the word "corporatism". Fascism simply is too offensive. Similarly, the truth seems to offend many people as well.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)Mussolini did.
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini
And yes, Libertarians are now trying to claim this is not a real quote, which is interesting, and not surprising.
Here libertarian quote
http://blog.skepticallibertarian.com/2013/02/07/fake-quote-files-mussolini-on-fascism-and-corporatism/
That quote is found in this collection
Benito Mussolini, 1935, The Doctrine of Fascism, Firenze: Vallecchi Editore.
The Masked Shrike
(14 posts)Yes, I know the history of fascism. There are many on this board who refer to the DLC wing as corporatists, or Obama as a corporatist. My point being, the left will get more traction with your average person using the term, corporatist, than the emotionally charged fascist. (Even though by your reference, they are equivalent.)

The fascism seems obvious to me. People can call it what they like, and I'll call it what I like. Fascism.

Way to go Elizabeth!
Now we have to undo the damage the corporate supreme court has already done.
Not to be a downer, but we'd need populist, progressive majorities in both chambers, a populist, progressive president, and a few "acts of God" to hasten the retirement of our most reluctant Justices.

(50,983 posts)Then we hope to replace the neanderthals on the court. Apologies to neanderthal. Maybe one or more of of them will decide to retire early.

We need uniform voting laws nationwide with a verifiable paper trail.
After the fake election (coup) in 2,000 one would think the Democrats would have been on it. I found that odd.

They are to follow the law and for the most part they reason the law out. There is no reason to be this shabby about them and to imply they are all corrupt.
