Those who "work hard and play by the rules" are almost by definition NOT in the 1%. reformist2 Jan 2014 #6

both his and Obama's statement along those lines have always to me applied to both workers, management and capitalists.

the "giving poor people money makes them lazy while giving rich people money makes them hard working job creators" meme is infuriating.

it is a lie meant to keep us worker bees in line. And who wants to keep us in line? The 1%.

responses relevant to the social strata of our time, I will say that if you apply this quote to some of the policies that Pres. Clinton implemented, the quote works nicely.

There were several environmental and public lands policies and projects that were very important in the western states which he put into place that would never have come into being if he hadn't played by the rules and worked pretty hard. And he made it less of a nightmare getting through college, could have done a lot more though.

Just sayin'...

He had some really good points, but I can't say I agreed with everything he did in office but when you think about what his administration was like compared to the guy he replaced, it wasn't all that bad. Sadly, NAFTA was the spike up the ass that was far worse than fourteen Monica Lewinskis. I'll give him a 58 out of 100 points. (He did leave us with a major surplus after all.)

We are useful to them only insofar as we produce profit for them. They are trying hard to build and sustain a society and a set of societal values in which are defined by our work, all other aspects of life are crowded out or considered secondary, and we *must* work until we literally drop dead.
