Christmas carols for a dying little girl.

Laney, a girl in West Reading PA, has two weeks to live, maybe. Leukemia.

One of her last wishes was to hear Christmas carolers.

This happened about two hours ago:

Carolers on Chestnut Street outside her home.

A family in Berks County celebrated Laney Brown's eighth birthday Friday, knowing she won't be able to blow out the candles a year from now. Laney, who is losing her battle with leukemia, has captured the hearts of so many from across the country. The community has rallied around her, hoping for a miracle. Thousands of people are expected to sing Christmas carols to Laney at 7 p.m. on Saturday. They will gather in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in West Reading to help fulfill one of her final wishes -- to hear Christmas carolers.

The rest: http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-berks/organizers-detail-logistics-for-christmas-caroling-for-laney-in-west-reading/-/121418/23581766/-/8p77yd/-/index.html

There are plenty of reasons to despair for this country, what we've become, what we are becoming.

But this happened, not two hours ago.

We are our brother's and sister's keeper. More people believe that than don't.

And that's why we will get this right some day.

UPDATE: The nose-count stands at 10,000 carolers.

tragedy. But the new spiritual beliefs I am trying to incorporate into thinking are that what seems like tragedy is really my wrong interpretation.

So I just started looking at her picture and all of a sudden I realized how she moved thousands of people, how she got them together for the forces of good. How for a short period of time they were all one. And how she is influencing people not just from her neighborhood but around the world.

Then she looked like an angel that was sent to help us all heal.

A great life doesn't have to be a long life. And I don't think anyone dies anyway. I think they just change forms and I think they come back to earth if they want to.

Just my 2 cents.

I can't imagine a more consoling thought.

All those people who gathered together will sing for her will never, ever, ever forget her. She will live on in them until the very last one of them dies, too.

Thank you, because my heart is just breaking for her and your words are very comforting.

as the pictures immediately caused me to tear up. I love the way you think, however, how this little girl brought all of those people together for good.

I want to think there is good in the world, and this is a good way to put it all into perspective.

that was set up yesterday so that anyone can sing her a Christmas carol and post their video for her on the page. This evening, they've begun posting the videos of the community caroling event. It seems to be a page from her mother or someone else very close to her family, as there are also pictures of her listening to the music on it.

Some of these videos of the little kids singing are precious and some others, like of the Air Force Band, are pretty cool, too.

What a wonderful legacy and beautiful memories her family will have in years to come. Families should not have to cope with death during the holidays but this act of kindness from so many strangers will help her family when they listen to carols in following years. When they look up to the North Star they will know there is more than just a star up there!

There a several reasons why we've lost sight of this holiday in both secular and non-secular positions.

It's wonderful to believe that there is still inherent good left among us to celebrate all that this season should be.

+1
