Utah man shot, killed by Texas police while running away, witnesses say

SALINA — A man who was born and raised in Salina was shot and killed by police Monday in Duncanville, Texas, just outside of Dallas.

Several witnesses, including the man's sister, said Clinton Peterson, 28, was unarmed and running away from police when he was shot.

"I'm not aware of how many shots were fired or who shot," said Doug Sisk, a Duncanville police officer. "I know shots were fired is all I know."

Police said they were responding to a call of a major disturbance. Clinton's sister, Melissa Peterson, said he was at her house Monday morning and refused to leave.

"My friend had called the cops because she just wanted him to go home and calm down," Melissa said.

She said her brother was walking home when two officers arrived. When confronted at gunpoint, she said Clinton put his hands in his pockets and began backing away from officers. She said Clinton took off running. Melissa saw one officer tase Clinton while the other fired his gun.

I assume we'll have a few suggesting this guy was committing suicide by cop. Perhaps a few others who'll note that we can't judge the cops until we've been in their shoes and known the true horror of being armed and confronting a psychopath who's running away from you. Or perhaps more CSI assholes using their vast knowledge of forensics obtained from thousands of hours of television watching to determine that he wasn't shot in the back.

I get to find out whose opinions I can immediately discard. Also, in the future when I see them clammoring for austerity or some other bullshit, I can remind everyone else that this person also supports murderous cops.

When lying prone in shackles with a boot between your shoulderblades, be sure to avoid any aggressive whimpering.

You cannot do anything right with an LEO in this country now.

You run away after having an argument with a family member, get shot.

Stand still, get shot.

Lay handcuffed on the ground, get shot.

In bed in your own home, get shot.

Walking across the street coming home from the store oblivious to cop who thinks you're a criminal, get shot.

There is a disturbing pattern in this country with police forces that think they are an occupying army instead of being law enforcement agencies.

legal under Texas law had it happened at night.

But, since it was day, looks like it was murder.
