I, too, am sick of the militarization of everything -- a bank and the military for the seventh inning stretch -- that's not what baseball is about.

but on Sundays they also play "God Bless America" right after it.

At the beginning of the game when the "Star Spangled Banner" is played they make a deal out of having active duty military or vets raise the flag while the anthem is played. A couple of years ago I went to a game 4th of July weekend and I thought I'd fallen through some time warp and was attending May Day in Red Square.

Ever since 9/11 Selig and MLB has allowed the game to be turned into a tool of the MIC...And it all runs so counter to George Carlin's description of baseball (the bit where he compares football & baseball).
