(2,049 posts)while Mercury was still alive (had several opportunities, but styled myself too much of a snob at the time). When I saw Queen perform at the We Are the World concert on television back in the 80s and saw how Mercury used every single inch of the stage, I realized I had missed the chance to see one of the greats.

(13,421 posts)Only time I got to see him play in person and it was a truly wonderful show. Drove back to Champaign that night and heard the next morning about the helicopter crash. It was horrible news and we all grieved for him. Still do. Seems like every generation has one or two of his caliber, and every once in a while I hear somebody that reminds me of his style.
RIP, Stevie. We all have missed you.

Life Without You
Oo oo now baby....Tell me how have you been
We all have missed you....And the way you grin
The day is necessary....Every now and then
For souls to move on....Givin' life back again, and again
Fly on fly on....Fly on my friend
Go on....Live again....Love again

(25,816 posts)We were building a high school when this happened. The word went around the parking lot in the morning that Stevie was dead.
A bunch of us bricklayers went home. I got to see him only once, in Tucson, where I also saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds, with brother Jimmy.
