I'll readily admit, there's not too much daylight between the parties when it comes to national security. I think that democrats are slightly better in that they at least tried to put safeguards in place.
Fortunately, democrats and republicans are very different when it comes to social and economic policies.
Instead of arguing back and forth about Manning and Snowden, we should start figuring out how to prevent the tea party from winning more seats in the house, senate, and ultimately the White House. Whatever your feelings and disappointments have been, don't lose sight of the fact that teabagger control would only make things worse. Just a friendly reminder.

(10,745 posts)This seems to have been a distraction more than anything else, TBH. The Goppers are still raiding our SS funds, they're still going after voting rights and women's rights, etc.......and we need to stop them.

(17,064 posts)...is still a totalitarian govt. And Obama seems willing to reach accross the aisle in cutting SS, privatizing education, giving up enviromental and worker protects in order to deliver TPP, allow drilling and pipelines in sensitive locations, fracking dangerous chemicals into water supply....and on and on. In the overall scheme of things, we're screwn no matter which party is in charge. As another DUer brilliantly put it, D or R is just a flag of convienience for the corporatists.
