Former senator Scott Brown told supporters at the Iowa State Fair Sunday that he is exploring a possible run for president in 2016.
Brown told CBS affiliate KCCI he is gauging interest in his brand of politics.
The fair is a popular spot for politicians prior to throwing their hat into the presidential race.

That sort of politician with a carefree/fun/moderately attractive/ good-ole-boy/frat boy image SELLS..
It has worked in the past with Reagan too
and even to some degree, Kennedy.. His LOOKS were what people talked about the most...
There are MILLIONS of people who ascribe to the "my-president/governor/senator/congressman-is-cuter-than yours is" style of politics..and they vote too.
I can understand why Brown would run..Look at the republican field that is likely to emerge..
Especially if Hillary is the anointed candidate of choice for our side.. It's 2008 all over again.. a handsome YOUNG-ish untested guy vs an older woman who has made her share of enemies. I can actually see Brown winning

(114,904 posts)For one thing he's pro choice and for another after Romney's loss, the repubs aren't about to nominate another MA moderate.
Not sure he could beat Hillary's celebrity status, but he'd probably do well all the same

(20,226 posts)But even then - he would not be the choice of the party base who never even wanted Romney or McCain but were persuade to support them on the grounds that a "moderate" would have a better chance of winning. The cliché at work in today's GOP runs something like this, "We tried running liberals in 2008 and 2012 and we lost. It is time to run a real conservative,"

(114,904 posts)he was the nominee, it's very hard to see him beating Clinton. In any case, his chances of actually winning the nomination range from slim to none.

(114,904 posts)and his losing in the race against Coakley was precisely because she was a terrible candidate who made one mistake after another.
and he'd lose a lot of republicans who would simply sit it out. He's pro-choice.
Probably not going to get nominated? More like surely. Anyone who thinks another MA moderate is going to get the repub nomination, hasn't been paying attention to where the repub part is.
