Posting PM's

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by azurnoir (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Bad form or entertaining?

Sometimes the lack of maturity can cause one to post a PM, other times, and innocent PM can be twisted to mean something completely different.

hat say you?

I say keep it out in the open and try to be civil. I have at times gotten into it with a member or two but I always keep my cool. My rule is always assume if you go over any line a someone will alert on you. That includes PMs

As for PMing someone that you are trying to make nice with but it goes bad, remember to save the mail.

You can always alert on their mail. By them mailing you that keeps you from sitting on a jury for them for 24 hours I believe. Also if they don't like you they may have you on their jury blacklist. Do you sit on juries for gunners often?

He said any kind of ignore makes you ineligible to serve on their juries. No, I don't often sit on their juries. I did once about ten days ago and the post was hidden.

I did not realize they did that to you. You should send some to me when you get them and we can discuss it.

I told them not to PM me. It's usually demanding I provide them with evidence of some kind. I'm not sure if they send them because they are locked out of a thread or because I don't get to reading all of their posts when they leave me so damn many.
I told the last one I would report him to Skinner if he continued. If they kept it up even after that, I would use ignore.

I would be happy to live in a world without them but I know we are not going to have that. So I am a supporter of gun control. I do not post in the gun room because I would be afraid of being outmatched. But you are very brave to go in there.

And then it becomes laughable.

If a DM is sent to share private or personal information, or to explore a tangent that might otherwise distract from a thread, or has some other 'good faith' purpose, then I think it would be wrong to post it.

But if a DM is simply a different style of slap in a conversation that has already devolved to a flamefest, then posting it is no better or worse than sending it in the first place.

And if a DM is sent to bully, stalk, harass, or provoke, then perhaps sharing it is the best disinfectant.

Personally, I won't put anything in a DM that I wouldn't be willing to see out on DU, unless I know and trust the recipient...

Discuss politics, issues, and current events. No posts about Israel/Palestine, religion, guns, showbiz, or sports unless there is really big news. No conspiracy theories. No whining about DU.
