The stupid is indeed strong with James Delingpole......

.....I would have posted this in the good reads forum, but it's not a "good read". It is in fact the most hilariously idiotic article I've read in a long time. Anyone would think that this is a parody but those of you aware of Delingpole will probably be aware of his long track record of loony drivel.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100137740/why-im-rooting-for-barack-obama/

Let's get one thing clear: Obama unquestionably ranks among the bottom five presidents in US history. In terms of sublime awfulness he's right up there with our late and extremely unlamented ex-PM Gordon Brown – which is quite some doing, given that Brown singlehandedly wrought more destruction on his country than the Luftwaffe, Dutch Elm Disease, the South Sea Bubble, the Fire of London and the Black Death combined.

Agreed: the damage President Obama has done to the US economy with everything from Ben Bernanke's insane money-printing programme, to his cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline, to his ban on deep-water drilling to his crony capitalism hand-outs to disaster zones like Solyndra to his persecution of companies like Gibson is incalculable. And, of course, if he gets a second term the damage he and his rag-bag of Marxist cronies at organisations like the Environmental Protection Agency manage to inflict on the US small businessman trying to make an honest buck will make his first term look like Calvin Coolidge on steroids.

So why do I think this would be preferable to a presidency under Mitt Romney? Simple. Because I've seen what happens, America, when you elect yet another spineless, yet ruthless, principle-free blow-with-the-wind, big government, crony-capitalist RINO squish. His name is Dave Cameron – and trust me, the cure is far worse than the disease.

I had to suffer through a years worth of emails from this dipshit from inHuman Events titled 365 ways to drive a liberal crazy.

Some examples:

No. 24 of 365
Tell your liberal friends you prefer foreign policy Teddy Roosevelt style:
"Speak softly and carry a big stick" to foreign policy Barack Obama style: "Speak softly, bow deeply, and apologize often."

No. 318 of 365
Quote Competitive Enterprise Institute Founder Fred Smith Jr.
"The threat posed by humans to the natural environment is nothing compared to the threat to humans posed by global environmental policy."

and 365 of 365 .....
Most annoying of all for any liberal
would be for you to have door-stopped him with 364 of these ideas, and now... ha-ha-ha, we start them all over again!

really James, good luck with that.

I just wasted 5 minutes of my time.

He is probably best known for climate change denial; but he is vicious in every possible way. Here is a link to one of his nastiest recent articles. I hesitate to link to it, as the right-wing media's presentation of disabled people, especially if they're poor, verges on hate-speech, and this is an example; but it shows how nasty this man is:

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100132880/the-fake-disabled-are-crippling-our-economy/

The Daily Telegraph has always been the 'Torygraph'; but in the last few years, possibly dating from when it went online, its writers have become more and more vile, and seem to be deliberately collaborating with the American Republican Right. Calling Cameron a 'RINO', a specifically American term (the approximately equivalent English term would be 'Wet'; and I hope that Cameron is not a Republican even in name!) is I suppose the logical conclusion of this! Some of them would like us to be the 51st state under President Santorum or someone similar. Ugh!

....is that he just goes as over the top as possible in order to get attention. Combined with a very rigid ideological outlook and near superhuman levels of arrogance it makes it inevitable that he is incapable of making any sort of valid point on any subject, although he does attract the same sort of blinkered readership as Richard Littlejohn.

As to his latest screed, it's a classic case of cutting of your nose to spite your own face. Combined with most ridiculous hyperbole imaginable it becomes hilariously bad.

As to cack blogs on the Torygraph website, there's a number of really bad ones but one who sticks out for me is Dan Hodges. Claims to be a Labour supporter but never has a kind word to say about Labour or any policy that is not supported by the Daily Telegraph.

Vile in every possible way. HATES anyone who is poor or vulnerable in any way.

Another one whom I really hate is Cristina Odone. It's not just her views, bad as they are; it's her spiteful sneering at everyone who doesn't agree with her, and reducing everything to some sort of nasty personal gossip. Even when I agree with her on a few points (e.g. being pro-vaccination), she always makes me feel a bit sick.

And of course Norman Tebbit and Daniel 'The NHS is a 60-year mistake' Hannan- though that's mainly for their additional role as incredibly RW politicians.

The one who'd probably be most hated on DU in general is Nile Gardiner, as he seems to devote his life to hating President Obama and the Democrats.

I could go on and on...

Although I am seriously wondering if James Delingpole is in fact an elaborate parody of a right winger.
