Presumably so he can fly over the ghettos and piss on the poor. I normally leave religions alone (since I'm here for politics), but.... really?

Bishop I.V. Hilliard of the New Light Christian Church has his Texas congregation talking after he sent out a newsletter asking his congregation to donate $50,000. Was he starting a food pantry? Working with disadvantaged families? Moving people out of homelessness? Oh, no. He needs new blades for his million dollar helicopter

(19,339 posts)for the blades, God will reward the donors to the tune of their own transportation desires. Sick...and sad that people fall for it. He's clearly gone to this well before.

(26,025 posts)I didn't see one word concerning why his 'ministry' needs a helicopter in the first place. I'll never understand how these charlatans who preach the 'prosperity gospel' find a sufficient number of sheep to fleece in order to pay for their lavish lifestyles. It's obviously a successful 'business model' for these thieves, but I'll still never understand.

(22,759 posts)no really, Jesus Nut... he must have forgotten the Jesus Nut:
"...Jesus nut or Jesus pin is the main rotor retaining nut [1] that holds the main rotor to the mast of some helicopters, such as the UH-1 Iroquois helicopter; or more generally is any component which represents a single point of failure with catastrophic consequences..."

(37,364 posts)about a missionary who came to his village when he was a kid. The guy told the people that he need a home and asked them to supply the materials and labor to build a house for him, telling him that he had a rich father. The people did as requested and when they came to receive payment for their efforts, he raised his hands and looked heavenward and told them "Jesus paid it all."
Instead of protesting and having his scamming but thrown in jail, the townspeople looked at one another and nodded, "It's true."
I have no use for the priest class in any religion especially when they come with hand extended palm up.

(20,582 posts)I watched my elderly neighbour lady give away every cent she owned to these ministries. Her weekly chegue to them came first, then bills, then food. After working years in her own store and saving every cent, all she had left at the end was her little house falling down around her, a few bits of furniture including her little hard chair set in front of her tiny TV and of course religious pictures everywhere. I was glad for her she was spiritual and religion made her happy, but she honestly thought her money was going straight to the poor. People like this pastor should be jailed, imo.
