I don't feel like being sad/mad right now. The thought of that kid's character being assassinated over the next few months is too much. His parents look so much older than they did. I don't usually watch trial coverage. I zone out. But I actively don't want to get sucked into this one. Guns, and fantasies of acting out heroics with them, are a American disgrace. I want my head in the sand.

(89,283 posts)and all the evidence was the same there would be no question as to guilt. we wouldn't be having this debate .
it would be more like Ariel Castro where we pretty much know he is guilty .
but it's only because Trayvon is black that it's being treated as if he brought it on himself.

(12,482 posts)watching his dad is so hard because I identify. I am (mostly) white, at least that is how I am received. one of my kids is clearly mixed race (because as we all know, white is something so precious that one bit of something else makes you the other.) as van jones said about the whole hoodie thing, does my kid have to put on a tux to walk to the store?
but I have been glued to the trial. I think John Guy and his team are putting on a hell of a case. his opening statement was one of the most powerful I have ever seen a lawyer deliver. Zimmerman has told so many lies that he is in an impossible situation. If he takes the stand, Guy will eat him alive. If he doesn't, Guy will use his many recorded inconsistencies and rip him limb from limb.

(154,021 posts)I thought it would be good practice. I could not do it. And the 2014 one will be far more technical and far less riveting.

(32,777 posts)especially John Guy.
I think Zim's defense team is absolutely disgusting, especially the snake oil spewing front man Mark O'Mara. O'Mara puts on a phony "nice guy" act on TV while blowing dog whistles and implying terrible things about Trayvon.
