It goes to the one that spots the great white wha... , er, Snowden first! Arrrrr!!!!
BTW, I think I have an idea for the Gummint that might slow down some leaks. Before someone is given a top secret clearance, they should be introduced to and get to know some retired people who have served in the field. It might make them think about who might get hurt by releasing the wrong kind of intel to the wrong people. Just sayin'.

(4,734 posts)tighen up security like crazy. And even then, there will be leaks. It makes a difference if the people who depend on your confidence have real faces. Trust me on this. Not quite sure if I'm making sense or not.

Imagine those third-party contractors charging us twice what the gov'ment pays. RIP-OFF!
Why are we paying close to one million of them contractors to spy on the American people anyways? Ain't right.

(4,734 posts)at one time. They are not "evil" by nature and were better people to work for than most all of the civilian factories etc.. And there was some inherent dignity knowing what you did was important, as opposed to making the washers for the wheels of little tykes cars. And even at my humble position, security was enforced. There was an 800 number hotline for turning in security violations. We took it seriously. Sometimes shit happens. The political side is controlled by your elected politicians.

(14,626 posts)However, a private corporation is ultimately only accountable to its shareholders.
We have better protections and accountability when we have government employees do the work.
And why should the government pay twice the price to an outside contractors? Ridiculous.

(4,734 posts)but I kind of thought private contractors bid on the contracts. I know though that in the real world kissing congresspeoples asses the right way probably has undue influence. The solution is obvious and cannot be repeated too often - get money out of politics.
