12 hours to go as Sen. Wendy Davis filibusters Texas Senate to stop abortion bill - live stream

Live stream: http://www.texastribune.org/session/831/live/

Well, here it is:

She has to last 12 more hours with no potty break allowed, nor can she lean on the podium.

Background: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014517427

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The Republican-dominated Texas Legislature pushed Monday to enact wide-ranging restrictions that would effectively shut down all abortion clinics in the nation's second most-populous state, and Democrats planned an old-fashioned marathon filibuster to stop the final vote.

There's a point of order on the floor, so Sen. Davis has another chance to catch her breath while they hash it out. This one may take a while.

No water (and presumably no other liquids)? That would seem impossible while talking almost continuously . I've seen the no potty break and no leaning from other sources, e.g. AP story, but haven't seen the no water one before.

Filibusters are governed by the Senate rules and by precedents interpreting the rules.
Rule 3.02 prohibits eating or drinking in the Senate chamber.

Rule 4.01 requires a member of the Senate to stand at his or her desk to address the Senate. The member speaking may not sit, lean, or use a desk or chair in any way. Bathroom breaks are not allowed.

Rule 4.03, which governs the interruption of a member who is speaking, allows other senators to raise objections if a speaker does not confine his or her remarks to the issue under consideration or if his or her voice is inaudible.

I have to say, I've been GLUED to this all night, and I gotta work in the morning... But, this really is historical in that we have to live through this shit (again). Tonight, it feels like I'm reeling from a sock in the jaw as I witness the movement of America back to the dark days.

This is war... so, I think I'll finish watching this for the sake of what I'm gonna do next.
