I just started watching this show about a month ago, when someone left a copy of Season 5 here at my house. I liked it so much that I found seasons 1 - 4 on Ebay and bought them.
For anyone not familiar with the show, it's about a group of friends who all work at a University in Pasadena, Ca. Their jobs range from an Astro Physicist, a Molecular Physicist, a Theoretical Physicist and an Engineer. When they aren't working, they are all self described "nerds" and "geeks" who are into Star Wars, D&D, comic books, etc.
Anyways, at the end of each episode Mr. Lorre has a "vanity card" at the end of all the credits and stuff.
This one really made me laugh out loud in real life, so I thought I would share it:

(18,531 posts)I love this show so much I watch a couple of episodes every night after work.
I've never noticed the vanity card, so thanks!
My favorite Sheldon line: "I'm not crazy my mother had me tested."
Ghost in the Machine
(14,912 posts)You have to be quick with the pause button to catch the card...
My favorite line from Sheldons mom: "I should have taken him to Houston"...
I'm watching right now myself, lol

(39,909 posts)Even the re-runs are worth watching.
My favorite line from Sheldon's Mom:
"If I hadn't a told Uncle Stumpy NOT to clean out the Wood Chipper while it was running,
we would still be calling him Uncle Ed."
MY favorite Sheldon Line:
"I am NOT crazy!
My Mom had me tested."
I didn't know about the Vanity cards.
I'll be looking for them now.
Thanks.

(45,788 posts)They go by so fast you can't read them, but people who had taped the show would realize you could pause the image to read them.

BTW, sorry you caught up late to BBT. Seasons 1-4 are better, and watch them in order.
It was funnier before they all get into relationships

(75,480 posts)relationships. They just couldn't go on forever going to comic book conventions and lusting after Penny. I suppose the series will end when Amy finally succeeds in getting Sheldon into bed.

(2,227 posts)in this one, Sheldon already slept with another girl nerd. Never would have worked.

(14,912 posts)I noticed one where he made reference to his "Murphy Brown" days...
Once I got seasons 1-4 from Ebay, I had a BBT marathon
I couldn't believe it was only $28.99, with free shipping, for all 4 seasons!

(3,731 posts)comedies on TV these days. Jim Parsons is hilarious.
The bloopers are funny as hell also.

(14,912 posts)One of my favorites is during season 2, when they are at the lunch table and everyone kept interupting Sheldon as he attempted to explain the origins of Tapioca pudding. The way his face was twitching, I was literally in tears laughing!!

(22,143 posts)Is that you get to watch all of the episodes marathon style. I was late to BBT too. I also got to do all of of Arrested Development, Breaking Bad and Walking Dead like that. It's a better experience in my opinion. No commercials, no having to wait for a week or a year to see what happens.
The Lorre quotes are always good.

(60,010 posts)Yes!!!!
And for all the reasons you state.
Esp. for a series like Game of Thrones which has so many story arcs and characters.
And Mad Men, too, IMHO.
I am one of the late to the party re: Big Bang, and now that I have all 6 seasons, I watch 3-4 episodes as a night cap.
damn fine show, reminescent of Taxi, Night Court, Mary tyler Moore.

(22,143 posts)We all love Sheldon the most. And being a D&D and Sci-fi geek since I was a kid, I truly appreciate all the references to the culture. I knew one day the nerds would take over the world. Haha!

(14,912 posts)I also like watching "Analyze This" & "Analyze That" back to back, as well as "Get Shorty" & "Be Cool". I was at the pawn shop a couple of weeks ago and found a 3 movie set.. "Friday", "Next Friday" & "Friday After Next"... for $2!!

(2,227 posts)It didn't have Penny and was really bad. Then they got the perfect cast and nailed it. They had to bring back Jim Parson more than once to make sure what they were seeing in his audition wasn't a fluke. Its also great when they added Amy and Bernadette.
They don't have to hire a neuro biologist as consultant since Miam Bialik is one. I was like a lot of people, didn't even know about this show till about 6 months ago. Have all 6 seasons now and watch at least 3 episodes a day. I especially like the newer one with Bob Newhart. What a perfect episode for him. And of course the one where Sheldon hugs Penny for the first time. I think I'll watch an episode now. Just for a smile

(38,613 posts)It definitely needed some tweaking. Making Sheldon a "normal" sex-driven guy just didn't fit, it was like giving Data that emotion chip.
I laughed when Miam Bialik first appeared, since in an earlier episode Raj suggested recruiting her to be on their Physics Bowl team.
Then, there was a recent Halloween episode, where Sheldon and Amy are trying to choose a famous couple to dress as. One of the suggestions on their board was "Blossom and Joey"

(2,227 posts)When they mentioned blossom. It's a perfect fit for her. Im sure she saw the show and decided it was time to get back into acting.

(2,575 posts)I've just started watching this program, and identify strongly with the characters. In a way, it reminds me of my old college dorm: Kemp Hall at Illinois Wesleyan U. The powers that be thought it would be a good idea to put all the ...errm..."odd" people in one place so they could keep an eye on us better. Didn't quite work out the way they planned.
Seeing Mayim Bialik all growed up is a delight. She's always been a talented, funny performer. And recently they've added one of the singing team of Garfinkel and Oats to the cast in the small part of a true uber-geek. I keep expecting her to put on water wings and to burst into a rousing rendition of "Sex With Ducks".
