(18,964 posts)A high ranking local county official repeats a version of this story EVERY BLOODY time we talk.
His version of the story waffles back and forth between an undeserving-near-do-well and (obviously) black and (just as obviously) democrat purchasing steaks in one version and shrimp in another version. In each rendition of the story he "righteously" confronts the offending (insert your favorite bigoted target here) and says "I hope you enjoy your steak/lobster/crab/shrimp because I PAID FOR IT!"
Apparently repeating a story like this in the presence of other Republicans makes you a hero in their eyes. It is equally apparent that telling this story is supposed to be the "ace-in-the-hole" which will end any argument about food stamps, Income Maintenance, child support or anything else that a "libtard" might support. It is considered in Republican Circles to be the argument that dumbfounds liberals and has them walking off stunned at the brilliance of the Conservative/Republican/Tea Party Argument...
It's bullshit.
It's bullshit now the same way it was when Ronald (GOD BE PRAISED)Reagan made up his first "Welfare Queen" Story.
Gomert is trying to be the next RR...

"The gospel of Saint Ronnie!"

(75,480 posts)is odd since the Churches often depend on public funds to run their social programs. I would just as soon cut out the middle man and have these programs run directly by government agencies set up to do so and let the Churches take care of the spiritual needs of their congregants like the Constitution implies in the separation of Church and State. I have also heard church people grumble about the burden of caring for these needy people and they often don't have enough resources to meet the needs of taking care of them as well as they would like. It's a cop out to shove this responsibility, that is the responsibility of our government, to private agencies like churches.
