Has anyone here been paying attention to this today? It's been interesting to as this developed. Good work. Cantor really was taken aback because he thought he had it in the bag. Cantor whined and Hoyer handed him is butt on a platter.

Farm Bill Defeated in Blow to Boehner

The House defeated the farm bill resoundingly on a 195-234 vote Thursday, dealing another blow to Speaker John A. Boehner, who has struggled to move legislation opposed by conservative interest groups.
Most Democrats opposed the bill, unhappy with a $20.5 billion cut to food stamps, while Republicans deeply split into competing factions. Sixty-two Republicans voted against the bill, while two dozen Democrats supported it.
Republican leadership aides blamed Democrats for failing to deliver the 40 votes they promised for the bill. According to one aide, ranking member Collin Peterson told Chairman Frank Lucas at the last minute that he could not produce the promised votes under pressure from the White House and Democratic leadership.
Rory Cooper, a spokesman for Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., also blamed Democrats...more

Can'tor is blaming the Dems when he can't even get his own party to support it.
What a fucking buffoon.

(16,993 posts)You can spend your days in the bars, at the golf course, and pop in for a quick tan touch up on the way home. Obviously, you're in over your head and that little weasel Eric Cantor is going to stick a knife in your back eventually. Better to exit on your own terms. Resign. It's best for all.

(5,044 posts)Like my fellow DU peeps, its hysterical that the doofus is attempting to blame Democrats. They really have no idea what they are doing in the House of Representatives. Maddow is right, Boehner is REALLY bad at his job!

(30,947 posts)and keep my fingers crossed that the bill would not go through. As Social Security recipient, I am going to have to apply for food stamps soon. Last I checked, I would be eligible to receive $35 a month and that amount would probably be cut in half. At the price of food nowadays, I would be lucky to afford to buy a loaf of bread and a quart of milk.

Glad the House Dems haven't been co-oped by the corporatocracy, yet.

Good news indeed. Let's hope this is a trend then.

"Absolutely not," she said.
