Whenever Greenwald is up for debate, there is usually some denigrative sneering about the fact he lives in Brazil. This go around is no different.
So, for the umpteenth time, Greenwald lives in Brazil because U.S. immigration policy discriminates against LGBTers and our families. Greenwald's partner is Brazilian.
Please stop blaming the victim of second class citizenship just because you don't care for his or her politics.
It's ignorant, demeaning, and insulting to the LGBTers who are dealing with similar circumstances. It's just damn hateful.
Thanks much.

(1,301 posts)no mention at all of his living in brazil.
no mention at all of his being a gay man.
no mention at all because it has no relevance to the issue at hand?
so i will K&R this thread.

(5,815 posts)I've seen it used against him here and there, but a pretty nasty one from today that accused him of "hiding" there motivated this OP.

(11,804 posts)Until he went to the Guardian I guess.
Even listened to the awful interviews he did for Salon Radio - he is a great writer, but a pretty terrible interviewer in my opinion (he tries to hard to shape the narrative).

(11,804 posts)He is a good speaker - just not a good interviewer. Two different skills.
If I had to guess I'd say what makes Glenn Greenwald a good speaker is that he organizes his thoughts clearly into a well constructed thesis and lays it out. He's not as a good an interviewer because he organizes his thoughts clearly into a well constructed thesis and tries to get his subject to lay it out.

(45,788 posts)I've known lots of factual stuff for a long time about Greenwald that have allowed me to be debunk the lies, misrepresentations about him here, because Greenwald has written about it.
He is a U.S. citizen living mostly in Brazil. If I'm not mistaken, he still maintains a residence in the U.S., too.

I expected the same treatment of him on this as well.
He's an international kind of guy.
Seriously, it's quite small-townish thinking. If you leave a small town in America, they won't ever let you go back there. They treat you as a foreigner, a traitor of sorts. Kind of like you have the plague.
Actually, it's winger thinking.
It's childish, immature, hurtful and frankly, not very (ooooooh, am I going to get it...) INTELLIGENT!
