"...whom he denounced as a man who gave us the warrantless wiretapping scheme as a kind of atrocity warm-up on the way to deceitfully engineering a conflict that has killed over 4,400 and maimed nearly 32,000 Americans, as well as leaving over 100,000 Iraqis dead.

(39,909 posts)to summon Darth Cheney out of his cave just to attack Snowden,
then I'm starting to believe that there IS a THERE there.
The depth, venom, and coordination with which the Security/Surveillance State Proponents attacked Snowden last week have my political Spidey Senses tingling.
"They" wouldn't bother Cheney unless it is Defcon 1.
I'm beginning to believe that this might be "just the tip of the iceberg."

(35,568 posts)Really, think about it, some little people nobody, who "doesn't even have a high-school diploma"(lmao at that lame attack) just seriously tripped up the imperial machine that's been wreaking havoc throughout the world and now has turned on its own people.
When you depend on that machine to help you fabricate *evidence* for waging perpetual war and crooks like Cheney are making multi millions from those wars, imagine the fury against that "who-does-he-think-he-is high-school dropout" who dared.
We now know, from an NSA Director, that the entire US Congress is under surveillance.
Imagine what power that gives "evil-doers" who can push Congress into rubber-stamping anything they want, like war, like austerity, like privatization, like outsourcing for profit, like war-profiteering...
"just the tip of the iceberg"

(35,568 posts)The enormity of what he did, for the good of the US and the world, is staggering.
The NSA was hacking into hospitals and when they made a mistake the hospital's network would come down. HELLO?! There are babies, and sick people, and old people hooked up to machines in there fighting for their lives and this is what we're doing just because we can? Just because some unknown people in dark caves in DC want information on everyone roaming this earth? These are criminals we're talking about.

Let's begin with these:
1) Why did you choose Hong Kong to go to and then tell them about US hacking on their research facilities and universities?
2) How many sets of the documents you disclosed did you make, and how many different people have them? If anything happens to you, do they still exist?
Answer:
1) First, the US Government, just as they did with other whistleblowers, immediately and predictably destroyed any possibility of a fair trial at home, openly declaring me guilty of treason and that the disclosure of secret, criminal, and even unconstitutional acts is an unforgivable crime. That's not justice, and it would be foolish to volunteer yourself to it if you can do more good outside of prison than in it.
Second, let's be clear: I did not reveal any US operations against legitimate military targets. I pointed out where the NSA has hacked civilian infrastructure such as universities, hospitals, and private businesses because it is dangerous. These nakedly, aggressively criminal acts are wrong no matter the target. Not only that, when NSA makes a technical mistake during an exploitation operation, critical systems crash. Congress hasn't declared war on the countries - the majority of them are our allies - but without asking for public permission, NSA is running network operations against them that affect millions of innocent people. And for what? So we can have secret access to a computer in a country we're not even fighting? So we can potentially reveal a potential terrorist with the potential to kill fewer Americans than our own Police? No, the public needs to know the kinds of things a government does in its name, or the "consent of the governed" is meaningless.
2) All I can say right now is the US Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped.

(39,909 posts)...move out of the shadows behind the throne to attack a single, non-political US Citizen.
I remember when Bush-the-Lesser attacked Private Citizen Michael Moore from the podium in his State-or-the-Union address. I can't remember a US President EVER attacking a private citizen during the SOTU Address. That instantly elevated Michael Moore's standings to HERO for the Opposition. It was then that I realized how much the Fascist Security State feared Michael Moore, and how STUPID these people are.
On the same day that Cheney ventured out into daylight to attacked Snowden,
Bob Schieffer, in an absurd FAILED attack that was (incredibly) repeated on DU, compared Snowden to MLK and Rosa Parks.
Something IS up.
The only distressing thing about these attacks is how MANY misguided Americans have been tricked into playing for the same team that Cheney Power Hits for.
