Confidence in Congress Hits All Time Low
David Hawkings flags a new Gallup survey which found that only 10% of those surveyed "described themselves as having a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress, ranking it last on a list of 16 societal institutions for the fourth consecutive year. No institution has scored lower since Gallup started asking in 1973."
"Underscoring the crisis of confidence, Congress was the only institution this year in which a majority expressed very little or no faith at all. The number was 52 percent; television news was the institution with the next most-pronounced lack of confidence, at 39 percent."

(24,689 posts)I suspect if they had seperate polling for House and Senate by political party the numbers would be much different. Republicans would give good marks for the House overwhelming and Democrats probably about the same for the Senate.

(16,254 posts)I think most have quit working as they were hired to do. They may be helping their constituents, but they aren't helping the country one twit.
I've totally given up on anything from the House or Boehner. I'm disappointed in how wussy Reed is. He may do well away from the mike, but he is horrible when laying out ultimatums to the Republicans. I don't think his heart is in his job anymore. Boehner's never was. He's spending his time in the bars or guarding his own back.
Maybe they should all be fired and start over.

(19,847 posts)... lost all credibility in the eyes of the people. It was one of those 'George Will moments' where you could tell he had the line ready to go and he jumped on the first awkward opportunity to squeeze it in.
