I cannot reveal the details as that would compromise my ongoing activities to keep America safe.

I am starting to see a positive outcome for spying on EVERYONE... seems to me that a whole bunch of corporate criminal activity should be easily uncovered. Tax evasion should be the top of the list.

(82,383 posts)What if the government used the data to prosecute the banksters and the corporatists? Then it might not be unconstitutional.

(82,383 posts)The same posters who find it horrible now might find it not so bad were it used to prosecute the banksters.
And you have to read a lot more than just the Fourth Amendment to have much expertise on the subject of unreasonable searches and seizures and probable cause.
Warren Stupidity
(48,181 posts)treestar
(82,383 posts)When it comes to the Fourth Amendment. And no interest in learning more about it before spouting off. You are cursing mad because you know that and are being called on it and projecting onto me your discomfort that you've gone overboard.
I'm sure you want to start right now defending the privacy rights of the "banksters." Make a post saying that even the banksters and corporatists have a right not to have their phone call metadata transferred. The government should not be spying on the banksters either. See what the result is.
Warren Stupidity
(48,181 posts)The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Yes of course it applies to everyone. Even banksters.
But you have done a 180 here, first accusing "us" of hypocrisy because we would support warrant less spying on "banksters", and now of coddling them for not supporting it.

(14,459 posts)We don't need more evidence, we need a President who isn't chums with them.
We don't need to break the law to save the world, as you seem to keep suggesting. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Demeter
(85,373 posts)We just need to put Holder in jail, for not using the evidence he has. And move on it before the statute of limitations kicks in, or another plea-bargain, get out of jail fine deal is struck.

(82,383 posts)So what are they willing that the government be able to do to get the evidence?
zeemike
(18,998 posts)then all the amendments applies to them too...right?
But are they looking at the corporations books and computer logs for signs of terrorism or crime?...nope, they have the right to privacy that we don't have....so they are the real people and we are not.
treestar
(82,383 posts)That must include all the banksters' calls too. So what if eventually they get some evidence from the metadata that gives them probable cause to wiretap a bankster and from that get evidence to prosecute for stealing from the people? Are we going to have threads standing up for the bankster's privacy rights?
I just found this an interesting question in that I've seen on DU much condemnation of the banksters and demands they be jailed. So that involves getting evidence against them.
Ms. Toad
(34,124 posts)not just the data of people we like. The means have to be consistent with the goals, and if we want a society that values civil liberties trample civil liberties to get there, even when the civil liberties belong to people we don't like.

(3,991 posts)I personally brought down America's most dangerous terrorist organization, DIMWIT. They were speaking in "code", so things like "soda" meant" nuclear bomb. I alone figured out their code, and stopped them from getting their bombs. Then I busted them, by bringing an ice cream full of explosives and asking them if they wanted anything. They said yes, so I was able to arrest them. Th00e whole operation only cost $7 billion of taxpayer money.
EPIC WIN!
