I ask this as an honest question and I'm not trying to get banned but I do have this question that has been eating at me since my wife talked to me about it.
Let first by saying we didn't like this type of "PROTECTION" when Bush did it and we don't see the difference between Republican control or Democrat control either way it is wrong.
This is the text of the fourth amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
even though back than they didn't have computers or facebook type media as well as phone calls BUT shouldn't these ideas apply to computerized document or electronic waves they are still in a sense belonging to that person.
My wife doesn't have a facebook account. She plays rarely on twitter she likes to be private. She doesn't like corporations buying and selling her likes or dislikes to market her. She feels people have gotten too casual about how not only corporations but the government from basically skirting around the fourth amendment.
Her agurment to me was:
Why should my computerized thoughts or documents be less security than those on paper. Why should the government be aloud to datamind without a warrant?
Also she wonders:
Have businesses like facebook been preparing us for this so that we are no longer wanting to fight this?
I hope this doesn't ban me but it is an honest debate. If the Administration in power when we found out of this was a Republican one would so many make excuses and tell us oh this is different?
