Or are they simply stereotypes?
I think they are.

(12,194 posts)gun grabber: gun banner, in the instant direct sense, or "time release", whether they hide their intentions behind "reasonableness" or make them plain.
gun hugger: Pro-gun person, generally characterized as loving their guns more than children, sleeping with a gun under their pillow, being a "fetishist", or any number of other pejorative connotations. Usually applied to someone that disagrees with any given gun control measure, even to the point of being applied by pro-control to other pro-control persons who "don't toe the line enough".
Both are generally stereotypes, however, both do exist to debatable extents.

(16,204 posts)To be clear, there are DUers who straight up support a total ban on personal firearms ownership. But overall, the phrases are just contempt for opposing views of RKBA and the 2nd Amendment.
It's not much unlike the recent debate over the 4th Amendment. There were entire threads arguing over what was a "Reasonable" search and seizure with people on both sides of the issue. The 2nd has that same debate, with people on both sides of the interpretations of "well regulated militia". Limits on rights often go to the heart of a person's worldview and belief in freedom, or not, and so invoke a lot of passion. And contempt...

(46,373 posts)Quite honestly, the gun grabbing "ban all guns" people scare me more.
Because the gun enthusiast contingent here seems to be of the fairly reasonable type.

(597 posts)Im joking but here i go
Gun Nut= Wayne LaPier
Gun Grabber= Dianne Feinstein
Political opportunist that democrats will dread getting in bed with= Mike Bloomberg
Its my belief his Big Gulp ban did more to set back his own gun control efforts more than 100 million in NRA advertising ever could. He must remove himself from the issue and just quietly give his money to front groups.

(37,573 posts)the other day I was at Olive Garden hugging my gun and somebody tried to grab it. Fortunately I was able to flick my cigarette into their face and then my pitbull tore into them. That'll teach them to mind their own business.
