at this banquet. He came up to my counter and stuck his hand out and said hello and all I could say was You know kids really do say the darnest things. He smiled back and said they sure do. I bet you have heard kids say the darnest things.

I remember when I was a neurosurgeon they would say the darndest things.

And later, after I walked on the moon as one of the astronauts in the Apollo program, I'd get asked a lot of funny things.

And then, when I hosted the Captain Kangaroo show for many many years, well, let's just say they were always entertaining.

Like when I cured polio? They loved that.

Anyway kids are great.

and then when the ambulance finally arrived (a snowstorm... pre 911-era) the hospital made him stay in the waiting room because no one under 12 was allowed on labor-delivery floor.. ao he sat there with his bloody shoes & pajamas while they checked out Mom & little Sis. They released them pretty fast but that part of the ordeal scared him the most.
