Quick-thinking neighbor saves baby's life by using TURKEY BASTER to clear her blocked airway

Two weekends ago, Bill Hogenson, of Ludington, was working outside with his son when he overheard his neighbors' baby sitter calling 911 to report that the little girl in her care turned purple and was not breathing.

Hogenson immediately jumped into action, rushing into the house of Shon Gascoigne and Robin Shoup. He went upstairs, where he found 5-month-old Nessa Shoup struggling for breath in the arms of another baby sitter.

The man proceeded to perform CPR on the toddler, but to no avail. That is when the quick-thinking former marine deputy decided to try something unconventional, according to UpNorthLive.com.

Hogenson later explained that he does not own a turkey baster himself, and was simply rummaging through kitchen drawers looking for a piece of equipment to clear the baby's airway.
