(4,876 posts)The whole point of them getting one would be a deterrent, and it's not much of a deterrent if no one knows about it. Unless of course you actually believe that they are so suicidal that they would try to use it. They saw what we did to Iraq, they are trying to avoid the same fate.

the previous head of the IAEA was also pretty clear that iran was not developing nuclear weapons, he was very unpopular for obvious reasons. the new head of the IAEA toes the US line without question, which is not a surprise if you are aware of wikileaks

one of the top officials directly responsible for negotiations with iran resigned recently as well, the press reports suggest its because of tensions within the IAEA regarding iran.
