of course they can't lobby for terror threats, but terrorism has become a huge business over the last 10+ years. It's naive to think that this doesn't have an influence.
Just as war is profitable, so too is terrorism.

(5,198 posts)that they have to create enemies in order to stay in the arms/prison/surveillance business. They have no right to make public safety into a business, because it is a conflict of interest. They create, define and classify their missions and then are able to lobby to continue and expand their operation.
I don't think anyone here is naive enough to believe we can operate in the modern world without classified missions. But at this point in time the American people want to put the brakes on their unregulated expansion, mission creep and skyrocketing cost.
