She wrote on a blog about romantic heartbreak after Snowden fled to Hong Kong
'My world has opened and closed all at once. Leaving me lost at sea without a compass' she wrote
Couple previously went to Hong Kong for romantic getaway
Mills is a ballerina who attended the Maryland Institute College of Art
She performs with the Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe
The whistleblower who leaked the NSA's secrets thought about marrying his girlfriend and had previously taken her on a romantic break to Hong Kong - where he was last seen fearing arrest.
Family friends told MailOnline that Ed Snowden, 29, wanted to be with stunning pole dancer Lindsay Mills for the rest of his life but took the decision to throw it all away to expose the US government.
They were deeply in love and on her blog Mills, 28, dotingly called him her man of mystery who she had followed around the world for the last four years.
On Monday she took to the blog - where she has posted dozens of photos of herself semi-naked - to tell of her heartbreak.
Mills wrote: 'My world has opened and closed all at once. Leaving me lost at sea without a compass

(115,681 posts)I have been "mom" to a circus group and they do all sorts of things on all sorts of equipment. I guess I was reacting to the "stripper pole dancing" thing as there are others who use the same equipment to entertain beyond sexualy titillation.

(1,140 posts)But she has pole danced at least once. I don't think that it means anything in particular, you can take pole dancing classes all over the place now. I'm not quite sure why so many women want to dance like strippers, but hey, if it makes them happy, go for it, no?

(1,735 posts)how self-absorbed this guy is. He could have gone to a member of congress and kept it quieter, but he wanted the publicity.
Mojorabbit
(16,020 posts)The safest thing he could have done with his info is what he did IMO. No way to quiet it secretly as could be done if given to a lawmaker who might not want to do anything about it. This way if he disappears questions will be asked.

(41,832 posts)She is a pole dancer. I realize that anyone can be called a ballerina who puts on a tutu and may have studied ballet in the past, but a ballerina is really, in the real dance world a moniker for an elite dancer in a ballet company. A real ballet company.
Sorry for the off topic post, but it bugs me.
I'm not a dancer (pole or otherwise), but one of my closest friends is an actual ballet dancer, and it's a hard job. He works with stress fractures in his feet more often than not.
one_voice
(20,043 posts)you're right...
Though I have to give some credit to this young lady, it takes a good amount of strength and some training to do many of the moves she was doing.
I look great in a tutu, but would never refer to myself as a ballerina.

(22,541 posts)with dance troupes. She wasn't Just a pole dancer. But she did follow her significant other all around, apparently, which might have made it difficult to work as a dancer. It doesn't say she worked as a pole dancer, either, though. I didn't watch any of the videos, I confess. Just read the article, so I could be wrong.
The point is, she isn't a villain just because she got dumped. And she isn't a villain because of her profession, whatever that may be. She's a young woman who apparently dreamed, and maybe can't let go of the dream, of being a ballerina. Many a girl has had that dream. She's not bad for having it.
ETA: NO, that was never my dream. After I decided I didn't want to be Miss America by age 6 I decided I would be a Marine like my father. He forbade it. So I joined the Army.

Just so you know, I don't buy Snowden's story. I have good reason not to believe some of what he has said. I have also done a lot of independent study on the programs, as much as is possible in the circumstances. I am not as freaked out as most people are. I used to work in MI. I took my oath seriously. I just thought that you should know those things in all fairness.
What I have written about the programs:
