rape and murder a young girl in 1990?
It's a legitimate issue that should be vetted.
I'm not saying this should influence your opinion on the NSA leak but I'm just asking the question.
What is he hiding?
Mr. David
(535 posts)but I could be wrong as I heard that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990.

Don't know about Glenn Beck, though. I've never watched that show...and don't really know what he's about.

(3,317 posts)I was under the impression that Hong Kong was still under British rule in 1989.
Wikipedia stupidly(?) states that:

(51,787 posts)Way to miss the point. Even before Hong Kong switched over from British rule, it was no free speech mecca. It is simply wrong to claim, as Snowden does, that Hong Kong has a praiseworthy "tradition of free speech," even though it is part of China and has been ruled by the authoritarian Chinese government for decades now, the same government that committed the Tienanmen Square atrocity.
reorg
(3,317 posts)because it is a "Special Administrative Region" and "has a different political system from mainland China" which provides "constitutional protection on various fundamental human rights and freedoms. Specifically, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights is given a constitutional status through the basic laws."

(3,317 posts)are similar to those in the extradition treaties with European countries. You may remember that all the Assange haters here have been screaming at the top of their lungs that he'd be safe in Sweden because they would never extradite him, due to the fact that the alleged offense was political in nature. The extradition treaty with Hong Kong makes the same exception. In addition, China could object to any extradition from Hong Kong if they chose to do so:
According to notes on the treaty submitted to the US Senate, the Hong Kong negotiators had insisted on including clauses making it easily possible to deny extradition to the US, arguing that such a clause was essential in obtaining mainland Chinese approval for the treaty.
As such, article 3 of the treaty allows the Chinese government to refuse surrendering a person if it thought the surrender "relates to (its) defense, foreign affairs or essential public interest or policy".
Hong Kong can also refuse if the city or the mainland have begun proceedings for the prosecution of that person. Hong Kong can reject an application if the city felt that the request was "politically motivated" or that Snowden would be prosecuted for his political opinions.

Most likely like all the bagger hatched 'scandals' against the President for all these years, and especially now that he is in his last term this one too will fizzle out to be concocted of half lies and half truths.
