That's pretty common when the media does such a terrible job at reporting facts and being journalists.
Perfect example of how bad American journalism is today is someone like Mika Brzezinski - she desperately wants to be pretty, but criticizes Obama (in serious face) when he makes a mildly sexist joke. Maybe if she got out there and, for example, did an investigative segment about rape in the military I could take her seriously.
