Senator Rand Paul believes mental health is a hoax; legislation pendinghttp://kevinjayheldman.wordpress.com/2013/06/07/senator-rand-paul-believes-mental-health-is-a-hoax-legislation-pending-3/
"SNIP..........................
Paul seems to view psychiatrists and the mental health field in the same way he views big, over-reaching government and the power of a threatening government administration theyll take away your freedom and liberty, theyll try to control you, they must not have any power over you, they cant be trusted, theyre innately ineffective and dangerous.
He in fact questions the very legitimacy and authority of psychiatrists (it is all too easy for a psychiatrist to label a persons disagreement with the psychiatrists political beliefs a mental disorder).
Pauls legislation, chock full of ellipses between quotes and citations dating from 1998 and 1999 introduces legislation that demands that No federal funds may be used to establish or implement any universal or mandatory mental health, psychiatric, or socio-emotional screening program.
He goes further: Rand calls into question the actual legitimacy of mental health (serious conflicts in the medical literature regarding the definitions of mental health and mental illness what it means to be mentally healthy is subject to many different interpretations that are rooted in value judgments that may vary across cultures). He continues, further research is necessary to firmly establish ADHD as a brain disorder. This is not unique to ADHD, but applies as well to most psychiatric disorders, including disabling diseases such as schizophrenia.

else is against psychiatry? Cults like Scientology. You know why? Because cults and their sociopathic leaders require fucked up young adults they can 'save' and thus control. People they can give a narrative to that the followers can then march to. Where are they going to get their flock if people are as healthy and actualized as they can be? How's a sociopath supposed to get adulation and loyalty to the ends of the world without the lost? How is Rand Paul going to get followers?

(9,478 posts)they really think. They kind of kept their plans and beliefs quite during election time. Most don't see them for the danger they are. Keep it up, the more you talk the shorter your career in politics becomes.

They should keep the Xenu part simply because powerful alien overlords always make the best science fiction. Throw in a few dinosaurs to get the eight year olds and you've got it made.

(10,558 posts)See what happens when you read Ayn Rand crap after smoking belly button lint? Senator Paul is a national embarassment, living proof that an alarmingly sizeable chunk of our electorate is challenged by high school level gozinta!

(4,261 posts)People like Rand never have to see, let alone clean up the mess they leave behind. It makes for very poor policy.

(24,721 posts)It's very apparent that he has no idea what a mentally-disturbed episode is like. There should be a law that protects society from people like Rand Paul.
