Pastor Kevin Swanson slammed the new film "Star Trek Into Darkness" this week on his "Generations Radio" program because the movie allegedly promotes bestiality (audio below).
He said the movie "implicates the good guy [Captain Kirk] in the film as mating with the wrong species, but not just one, but two."
Pastor Swanson added: Thats how you get evolution, and so the end result of course is that evolution has no basic problem with bestiality or cross-species mating.
According to RightWingWatch.org, his co-host Dave Beuhner theorized: "I'm not sure that bestiality and the homosexuality are really all that different."
"The whole premise of this is that within an evolutionary construct there is no real problem with speciation and cross-species mating, theres no problem with that at all, in fact thats how you evolve, thats how you get evolution, and so the end result of course is that evolution has no basic problem with bestiality or cross-species mating," said Pastor Swanson.

(1,954 posts)That guy has no knowledge whatsoever on the nature of evolution. Breeding, even on the generational scale, doesn't provide evolution, heterosexual or otherwise.

(17,213 posts)And a couple of vegetables and minerals, too. That's why Star Fleet finally mandated that all food served on Federation starships be liberally laced with saltpeter -- with a double dose for the revered Admiral.

Nevermind that evolution generally actually works when species *diverge and become unable to reproduce with one another.*

(12,778 posts)have nothing to do with this guy's mating habits. I just can't get into a new "Captain Kirk." Also, couldn't they at least give Shatner a cameo in the first one? The gave Nimoy a cameo.
FWIW, I'm also disturbed by the fact that Picard buried Kirk under a pile of rocks in "Generations."

(12,778 posts)The producers had to do some serious mental backflips to get through that particular script without ripping it up and starting over. It's my least favorite Star Trek movie of either series.

(12,778 posts)That caught me by surprise. I thought that Shatner wanted a cameo but wasn't offered one. This may change my whole point of view on these movies.
Thanks for the info.

(13,114 posts)On one hand we have the psychopaths that control everything on this planet; countries, governments, corporations, Wall Street, global banks, energy supplies, food supplies, the ability to communicate, wealth and militaries.
On the other hand we have the religious delusional people; The Pope, Kevin Swanson, Pat Robertson, Rick Warren, Ted Haggard, Douglas Coe, etc., who control the masses and promote ignorance, fear and hate.
Group one and group two often operate hand in hand.
Could this explain why the world is in the shape it is ?

There are a surprising number of interracial marriages (including his own) and a lot of interracial adoptions in that group.
YES, some of them are flaming racists, but it's fringy, even in that group.
