Oh...wait...never mind. They used Google, found some public .pdf files and "leaked" them to the blogosphere, which immediately went into full outrage mode.

(31,257 posts)We know how the country reacts when events like 9/11 and the Boston bombing happen. People want to get to the bottom of what went wrong, why were there intelligence failures, and what do we do to stop these tragedies from ever happening again? Unfortunately, the NSA & the FISA courts are here to stay, and they will continue to gather information until Congress or the high courts shut it down.
After Bush, no US president wants to be responsible for a terrorist event on US soil, and they are going to use every tool available, and hopefully within the law as appears to be the case here. I'm still not sure what big bombshell is. Is it the fact that our government, like every other government, has secrets? AFAIK, this is nothing like the "warrantless" wiretapping that happened under the Bush administration. So, if there's nothing illegal, are we reduced to being outraged over what some people might think is an ethical issue?
MM: this was supposed to be in response to your Post #2. Sorry about that.

(146,350 posts)for one reason or another. I can guess at the reason for this current outrage, but I won't speculate here about it.
Suffice it to say that whenever things die down, a new outrage emerges to stir up the general population. It soon dies down, so disseminating outrage is a secure job, to be sure.

Anonymous has nothing like the skills needed to hack the DoD or NSA. And if they did, there would be people at their doors shortly thereafter. Most of what Anonymous does is simple DDOS attacks on poorly protected websites.
Script Kiddies, not hackers.
