Game of Thrones question

Didn't the Red Queen (the Witch) do a spell with the Baratheon bastard's blood that would kill the other contenders for the throne? That would include Rob Stark and I assume the creepy Lannister boy king. I don't think she mentioned Denaries in the spell. I thought the Blood Wedding was the completion of part of that curse. Anyone remember this? I have not seen it mentioned in the commentary anywhere.

1. That whole scene was not in the books

Though yes, I remember it. Problem is, I'd be thwapped as a spoiler to mention anything about it.

I think they have done a clean up in this season.
They seem to be getting rid of characters that have more of a role in the series rather than the books.
For example, the red haired courtesan that was killed by Joffrey.
The Blacksmith, who disappeared from the books mostly.
As well as the wife who is alive but was forced to give up her baby but disappeared from the books right after.

The last one was painful to me, but I kinda figured that was how they were going to play it.

That storyline was not part of last week's episode. In any case, it's a good question. I personally don't believe the Stark massacre is part of any curse. Robb went back on his word, pissing off a lord who also does business with the Lannisters, who used that slight to eliminate their biggest and most dangerous rival. In other words, it was an elaborate trap.

17. Was the RW fulfillment of Melisandre's spell? The Lord of Light works in mysterious ways.

Keep in mind, we don't honestly know her true motivations either. We know that she sees the future in the flames including how his all ends...but we only know what she tells Stannis and we have no reason to believe her. She's shown a willingness to lie or deceive to fulfill her goals and objective: the return of Azor Ahai. Perhaps Stannis is a useful idiot for the clearing of the field for the coming and he is not AA Reborn as she has told him he is.

Put "spoiler" in the title, or people are going to be upset.

I can't answer well because I'm on my phone, but I'll come back later and respond if no one else does.

she takes three leeches full of blood (I don't recall offhand where the blood came from) and throws them in the fire, symboling the future deaths of three contenders to Stannis' throne. This is a point of contention from both Davos and Stannis (i.e., they don't believe her, "two is not three&quot until three contenders die (Renly, Robb, Joff).

Edit: Derp. As a post below reminded me, Renly wasn't one of the three (he was already dead). Balin Greyjoy was the third, who somewhat mysetriously got blown off a walkway between castle towers.

since she wants *ALL* Edric's blood to wake the dragon...but how was it that she was leeching him in the first place?

8. No she didn't include Denaries because she's techniglely not ruling anything

Rob was King in the North, Joffrey was on the Iron Throne, Someone else declared themselves king if you listened to that scene you can figure it out and earlier Renley declared himself King but Denaries wants to be Queen, but she's not ruler of anything yet and they don't see her as a threat.

The three "usurpers" he named were Rob Stark, Joffrey (the creepy Lannister boy), and Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands. One is now dead, but the other two are currently alive as of now (Season 3 Episode 9).

In only one case is a person's death out of the blue and random enough to be considered potentially linked to Melisandre's spell.

The other deaths that occur (i wont say who) can easily be explained as inevitibilities given the politics and circumstances of the characters.

Danerys isn't considered a threat by Stannis. That's why the current rebellion is called the War of the Five Kings. Joffrey, Robb, Balin Greyjoy, Renly, and Stannis. Their concerns are very Westeros-centric.
