Been using Yahoo news as my home page for years, i've had it with the ignorant and angry RW comments

I like to keep informed of the mainstream views as a balance to DU, so I'll read the article on Yahoo.. then look at the comments and 99% are now predictably repetitive, ignorant, angry and sometimes racist rants at Obama. What's up with that??! When and why has Yahoo comments been hijacked by the tea billy loony bin? I'm just tired of it.. that and the growing slant of the "news" toward the RW alternative fictions... I like the format and some of the content, but it's just depressing to be reminded constantly of the influence of RW radio, fox news, obstructionist politicians, billionaire oil barons, and poor civic and science education in this country. I give up! i'm trying USA Today for now which seems pretty good and more objective, and NO comments.. but any other suggestions for mainstream news home pages with a balanced audience?

Google News

The sources range from Newsmax on the right to the New Yorker on the left. You can personalize it to your taste. I really like it, just a suggestion.

I have literally had drool on my computer from all their ignorant, spittle-filled ravings. Stay away from Yahoo.

Then they did away with the original messaging system and there was no commenting for quite a long time. When they brought it back in the "new, improved" form, it was as though they had sprayed the boards with Freeper food and it turned into a cesspool.

If you want a news site as your homepage I'd recommend your local newspaper's website, MSNBC.com or NBCNews.com (yes MSNBC and NBC News online are separate nowadays), Guardian.co.uk, or news.bbc.co.uk. Screw Yahoo News, nothing but the AP or reuters article that can be found elsewhere w/o the nutty comments. Furthermore, Yahoo News even reprints articles from right wing blogs The Blaze and Daily Caller!
