This morning, Justice Merchan rejected an attempt by Donald Trump to subpoena Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz seeking various documents from his tenure at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
Pomerantz was hired as a Special Assistant District Attorney under former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance. Pomerantz later resigned from the office, in part, due to Alvin Bragg's initial decision not to pursue criminal charges against Trump.
Trump, in his criminal trial now, sought records from Pomerantz's work at the District Attorney's office. Justice Merchan rejected this ruling for several reasons, including the fact that Trump's requests were over broad and not relevant to the proceedings, while also invoking the work product privilege for the documents.
