Monroe County, NY DA Story I Posted About Yesterday

has hit the national news. ABC had a piece about it tonight and so did People Magazine on-line. Link below.

As a reminder she was caught going 20 mph over the speed limit and failed to pull over when police signaled for her to do so. Then when they followed her to her house she got very belligerent to them, and even. swore at them. Luckily the police recorded her on body cam and it was released to the press. The Rochester City Council has asked the NY Attorney General to look into the D.A.s behavior.

Boy it's been a bad press week for Magat woman. They sure now how to keep it classy don't they?

Would be to fess up immediately and apologize.

Pay the damn ticket already and this would be no story at all.

Is all this negative publicity worth a few hundred bucks?

Saw the ABC News story. She came off as arrogant.

I remember her ads when she ran for D.A and thought she was arrogant in those too.

hands on the hips, the eye rolls, the head shakes, the cursing, the statements "I don't care", "I understand the law better than you", "no, I'm not staying over here", "I didn't want to pull over... I just figured I'd go to my driveway", "I made it my choice".

that's Rochester's daily Gannett Corp. owned newspaper, she said she's already mailed the ticket into the town of Webster court with a check for her speeding offense. I'm not sure that will cover it though, because anything 10mph over the speed limit or more is subject to additional penalties plus fees. Her license is also subject to increased points against her being able to drive. I believe she has to appear in person for an offense like this. I suppose she can act as her own defense and plea bargain WITH THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY for a reduced speed, fine, and points against her license.

This means she'll be plea-bargaining with one of her own employees! This should be good. And everyone will be watching very closely to make sure she doesn't try any funny business. 🙄

She also said that she was wrong and no one is above the law. She sure changed her tune in a hurry.

I mean, sure, it fits the bill, but I didn’t see any mention of her politics anywhere.

Interesting too that a local radio talk show host who normally is pretty conservative leaning said Doorly should be removed as DA and a Democratic candidate should be appointed to fill the job until a special election can be held.
