Was he just a passing name that someone brought up? Was there ever an investigation to determine if it went deeper?
Think. Again.
(8,690 posts)...considering ginni thomas' involvement that we know about, maybe the supreme court justices who are working to delay trump's convictions are doing that because they are trying to protect themselves from the exposure of their own involvement in the crimes leading up to Jan. 6?

(46,775 posts)Really would be mind-blowing if the hard right Supremes voted to get Trump off, and then we discovered their involvement. I imagine their rulings would be disqualified and overturned.

(46,775 posts)who say we need the country to forgive, in order to heal. Worst way to go, because it is quite literally the reason we're here today. The Right never get held accountable for their evil actions, which is why they keep repeating their shenanigans.

Nobody can overturn a SCOTUS decision except SCOTUS. Justices can be impeached and removed...That requires 66 Senators to concur.
The new reality is that SCOTUS is just a third branch of a political system that has no investment in fairness, justice, or history. That ship has sailed!

(46,775 posts)In all other court situations, whenever some egregious wrong-doing or bias from a public official has been discovered, court cases are overturned.
Are you telling me that the rest of the nation will allow this Court's decisions to stand if they discovered that one or more of these Supremes were part of an inner circle that wanted to undermine an election? I suspect that there would be rioting in the streets if it were discovered because their decisions have negatively impacted on many people's lives.

You have to win first, to have it stolen from you.
Overall, a good discussion of how on Jan 6th the Trumpians somehow drew Alito for their fever dream of an injunction forcing Pence to somehow use the 12th Amendment with Louie Gohmert as the plaintiff. (this is all going on DURING the insurrection with blood and broken glass in the Capitol building) Then Speaker Pelosi, quickly filed an amicus brief against the injunction, but just to be sure. Speaker Pelosi immediately reconvened the House and completed the process as soon as the Capitol Police and National Guard had cleared the building. Note: At no time during this did Trump ever call for calm. He only choked a SS Agent and threw a fit because they wouldnt take him to the Capitol.

(3,504 posts)Reading some of his questions during the hearing, I think Alito genuinely believes tfg did nothing wrong trying to undo the election and stay in office.

(46,775 posts)That's why, if there is a conflict of interest, we're all in deep doo-doo. The implicated Justice(s) would move hell and highwater to avoid being exposed.
