(11,258 posts)Trone was my Congressman until the last election when the district lines changed and he seemed to be doing a good job. That said, Alsobrooks has long been intriguing, so I've been on the fence.
Seeing all of those people who I respect so much endorsing her just sealed the deal for me. And I'm 100% being serious.

(54,476 posts)My brother said her opponent in the primary is a self-funding gazillionaire whose Democratic credentials are wobbly (I never heard of the guy). He is pro-choice, but that's about as far as anyone was able to tell me. His money has funded TV commercials on DC TV (I was there last week) that pop up every four minutes, it seems. They get tedious very fast, whereas Alsobrooks' Democratic credentials are solid, and her commercials are easier to watch.
The fly in the ointment is that former MD Governor Larry Hogan, is the Republican candidate. He is very popular in the state, and comes across as the rare "reasonable Republican," although he's only really reasonable compared to Marge Greene, and compared to her, Attila the Hun is reasonable. A bruising primary fight doesn't mean Alsobrooks has no chance, but this race will not be the cakewalk that a Maryland Senate race would normally be for a Democratic candidate. Hogan originally didn't want to run. Someone must have twisted his arm, saying "Larry, you could realistically be our next Senator," and Hogan realized they were right.

(131,290 posts)From what I can tell, from MD friends as well as DUers (haven't discussed with many here,) it's iffy. A DUer, a former trone constituent, changed mind after seeing the ad, (see above post,) but had been 'satisfied' with trone, and at least according to him, he's 'very' bi-partisan, that is, works well with 'the others.' Doesn't appear his Dem credentials are wobbly, but I guess that's hard to tell.
He's a wealthy and self-funded businessman, and Alsobrooks is a forever public servant.
I received my ballot today, and looking forward to mailing it.
This one may go down to the wire, both primary and general-wise, making for exciting politics, but who wants THAT?
