When she came in she stood above most, measured and humble, open with her faith, close to family. At one point she even said she was doing less TV, because she wanted to be more serious.
Trump broke her. I am still amazed that the same Noem I knew has become what she has, own the libs shoot my dog hang with Lewandowski etc. never imagined this to be honest, and goes to show how good people get destroyed by fame and MAGA.

(3,408 posts)If people put up an act to make other people think they are not the evil disgusting human beings they are, they know they are a piece of crap, which is the reason why they need to pretend to be something else, and they are OK with that.
"I am a piece of crap, but I have to pretend I am a nice person, then later I can be my evil self, when the time is right."
How disgusting!

(111,417 posts)That old WWI song still rings true. The truth is that she grew up in farming country, went to shitty rural schools, and took her education from itinerant preachers. It shows rather badly. I dobn't think she's an especially stupid woman, but she is prfoundly ignorant.
I disagree with Kinzinger on this one, I think she was always broken.
What TFG did was widen her horizons, giving her a taste of champagne instead of the chamoagne of beers. She attached all that glitz to the man instead of to finishing her term, getting on a plane, getting the fuck out of SD and getting a job as a farm lobbyist.
Maybe she'll do just that and the dazzle will be gone, especially as TFG continues to deflate as he sits in one courtroom after another.
She's not broken, she is what she always was and eventually she'll notice TFG is a demented old stoat and she'll ditch him.

Now ugly is status quo for mainstream Republicans.

(61,748 posts)The false myths are that America was built by strong, independent white Christian men who did it all by themselves, guided by their faith in God. The false myths are that strong, rugged individuals have to make difficult choices to keep their families safe, but they're always guided by decency and Christian values.
The truth about the U.S. is that Europeans wandered ashore seeking wealth and power, inadvertently bringing diseases that wiped out most of the original inhabitants, making it pretty easy to "conquer" the land. Then these lucky people relied on the labor of slaves and less powerful immigrants to "build" the country. Rounding out this shameful history, we made up heroic myths to cover up the truth, lying to ourselves by creating ridiculous fairy tales.
Noem is a victim of these myths, just as Kinzinger and rest of us are.

(29 posts)Trump couldn't have broken Noem, unless Noem was willing to be broken. She had a choice just like you Mr. Kinzinger.
