Amy Coney Barrett shocked Idaho law preventing a doctor from abortion unless mother was dying now.

Amy Coney Barrett shocked during oral arguments that Idaho law would keep a doctor from performing an abortion unless the mother was immediately dying right at the exact moment she’s at the hospital.

at the party and philosophy that "brung her there."

She seems honestly astonished at a lot of things--including yesterday--hearing the idiocy of her conservative male colleagues.

While I can't get past the urgent need to do something about/dilute the impacts of Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, and Colorado's shame, Gorsuch (We are stuck with Roberts for a while), there is a minute chance that ACB MIGHT evolve even a tiny bit. (Then again my hopes are frequently dashed when I extend even a modicum of benefit-of-the-doubt toward any conservative).

I'm think that she, unlike the conservative men on the court, cares at least a bit about the need for women to have health care.

Gorsuch, on the other hand, has one spot that isn't blind. And that is NAtive American rights, particularly tribal rights. On everything else he's a complete waste. But,, as long as we could be sure of him getting outvoted on everything else, I would let him stay for that one seeing spot.

You are neither in a position to make that judgment (my understanding is that only the deity can do that), nor in a position to know the woman well enough to say, one way or another.

I despise the woman, but I wouldn't dream of presuming to judge her religiosity or the sincerity of it, because I am honest enough to say I don't know her. I know things about her, but I do not know her enough to speak to her private views.

Neither do you. it's extremely dishonest to make such an assertion about her when you do not know her.

That's why this is your logical fallacy:

So she’s never lived in a world where women faced such disregard for their health. Probably grew up hearing that it wasn’t bad in the past, stories of botched abortions and women dying were exaggerated by people who want to kill babies. She didn’t realize Roe is about saving women’s lives because it was a given during Roe that women’s lives would be saved over nonviable fetuses. She was focused on the babies because she had the luxury and privilege under Roe to not consider the breadth and depth of how her vote would impact women’s health. I think she’s starting to figure it out and we watching her deprogramming on this in real time.

As people in the elite usually are. Now, MAYBE a glimmer of recognition of the world outside her mahogany-paneled domain. If her “shock” is indeed genuine, she still has a looong way to go.

And Amy? Just so you know, the process of dying these women are required to enter before they can receive care - frequently can’t be reversed like you reversed 50 years of precedent.
