Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCan someone explain how the MSM is any different than the National Enquirer?
Sure, the New York Times might be a little less glossy, but their "coverage" of Hillary Clinton's emails and President Biden's age are about as factual as Rat-Boy and Alien Abductions.
Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd provide as much "depth" to their reporting as the guy reporting on the toast that looks like Jesus, or is it Ian Gillan...I get the two confused.
The media has a lot of nerve to laugh at David Pecker.
They've all become Peckers.
It doesn't matter if the whore is paid in quarters, or by an American Express Black Card. The profession is still the same.

(10,274 posts)Even they realized Trump followers didn't want "fair and balanced" news, only trashy tabloid lies and RW propaganda.

I will say the New York Post comes close to the Enquirer. Aided by its tabloid style and sensational headlines.

(21,440 posts)this is why I only get my news from a handful of sources.
I saw a lot of commercials promoting Katy Tur and she doesn't know whether she is punched or bored.
Bothsider Ari is certainly just as bad.
I turn on Joy to see what outfit she has on, and what hair style.
I will listen to Chris Hayes now and again, Laurence wants to scoop everyone, which is cute.
Wish I could staff MSNBC:
4 PM - Nicolle Wallace
6 PM - Katie Phang
7 PM - Keith Olbermann
8 PM - Chris Hayes - (can't replace them all)
9 PM - Thom Hartmann
10 Pm - Ellie Mystal (spelling)

(33,574 posts)...by comparing them to the made up story that an outrageously effective President is "too old?"
Nobody takes rat-boy and alien abductions seriously and they're kind of fun and amusing. Working to put a senile incompetent unintelligent criminal back in the White House by ignoring his age, senility and criminality is quite a different story.

(52,387 posts)The msm usually doesn't originate the lies and fake scandals. However, they do journalism a tremendous disservice by giving air to the tabloid nonsense, granting their stories and their very business legitimacy that they do not deserve.
The msm should have always characterized fox and hate radio as right-wing propaganda outlets, which they obviously are, rather than legitimate news media.
And they always should have treated stories that started there with a huge grain of salt. Instead, they felt they had to cover the same stories in much the same way.
Oh, sure, the msm is more careful to say "Republican politician said" rather than simply reporting something as fact. But putting a lie in quotes is still bad journalism even if it's true that someone said it.
While fox was spouting nonsense about Hillary's emails, the msm should have taken a more responsible tack and covered the Republican fake scandal machine and their abuse of congressional investigative powers for blatantly political purposes.
So, different, yes. But in the end the msm has and continues to do a lot to help the right-wing propaganda machine.
Hapless or complicit or eager co-conspirators, who knows.
But the msm needs to do better. Foxnews certainly won't.
