An elephant at the immunity hearing

I listened to the arguments and unless I missed it, no one addressed the possibility that absolute immunity could result in POTUS removing a member or members of SCOTUS. I use the term “removal” euphemistically, as I know impeachment is the Constitutional manner of removal, just not TFG’s, based on his statements.

SCOTUS does seem to see things a little differently when they are affected directly

I would have loved to hear those who seemed to be supporting absolute immunity answer that question. I do hope the questions were designed to take both positions to their extreme limits in order to craft an appropriate decision that addresses the issues raised.

Even if they waited until after the election to grant immunity it still would cover Biden. A president would not have to apply for it he would be covered.

THERE WON'T BE ANY CONSTITUTION...............

They have already stated, in Public, that the existing U.S. Constitution is an "antiquated piece of paper" as far as they are concerned.

The Republican Think Tanks are already writing a new one, a Tyrant's Manifesto.............

Just as TFG and Kennedy were walking away from announcing his retirement, TFG stopped and said something to Kennedy. Kennedy looked totally surprised.
We never found out what the big surprise was.

I think it had something to do with Kennedy's son, who was involved with TFG's real estate loans.

Thank you for bringing that matter up. The U.S. Citizens are plagued with three day news stories, and all have short memories.

Trump was rumored to have told Kennedy: that if he retired, so that Trump could appoint a replacement who was extreme far right, he would make sure Kennedy's son didn't get prosecuted by the Dept. of Justice.......Kennedy, un-expectidly retired immediately...

AND Trump appointed Gorsuch...........BTW: His mother, Ann Gorsuch was appointed head of the EPA? or Dept of the Interior.? She lasted almost two years, and suddenly retired. She retired a few days before she was going to be indicted for fraud for her behavior in her dealings with Uber Rich Energy Corporations.....

So folks, the right wing members of the supreme court seems to be on the verge saying it is OK for a president to kill his opponent as long as that is an "official act". Maybe someone should note that that same logic applies to a president executing Supreme court justices, as an official act. Same blindness applies to the wiliness of the males on the court to think it is ok for woman to have to wait until they are at deaths door before receiving medical treatment. They do not see it happening to them so it is unimportant. It is the very essence of what passes for conservative philosophy today.

have to execute justices, he can just do away with the Supreme Court altogether. When such an actor gets to be President (again) and decides to rework the world in his image, I guess they think that former SC justices will be "taken care of." Quite the leap of faith.

They might not rob banks, or car jack vehicles or embezzle. But they have criminal minds. We are accustomed to having people on the (formerly) s.c. who sincerely use The Constitution of the U.S. as the guide for their legal interpretations. We are mainly used to those people chosen to find a solution that benefits the most people in a fair way, or supports the government in its use of its powers. Not any more. roberts made his bones when he got bush installed in the White House in 2000. thomas made his bones taking money and favors from a rich man who reminds me of Endicott in The Heat of the Night. Had thomas a scintilla of the self-worth Mr. Tibbs had, he would have slapped leo the second the offer of money for soul arose. gorsuch made his bones by accepting a seat that if the rwnj in the Senate had followed the rules, would have gone to a more impartial person. kavanaugh made his bones assaulting women seemingly often, denying it, taking no responsibility. alito is making his bones by making decisions to advance his personal beliefs. comey, same. How we can expect a fair, impartial, legal interpreation of any law, from traffic laws to human rights from people who have turned their backs on American jurisprudence and are gleefully wiping their bloody hands on the piece of paper that to many of the rest of us is revered and honored?

They are crooks. They were crooks when they chose the course of their careers, they are crooks right now and unless the light dawns, they will be crooks when they die. They are murdering the Constitution of the U.S. and counting on law-abiding citizens to hesitate, unable to believe, until it is too late, that the criminals , indeed killed our country.

Win at all costs... because winning means you get more money, power or prestige.
Lie to the public often and readily...because the end justifies the means.
Ordinary citizens are merely a commodity to be exploited by their "betters."
Squeeze people more for goods and services because we have a monopoly...and there's not really a free market.
Distract the public with unimportant issues.
Omit or play down the important facts - because we don't want to get the public riled up.
It's OK if you don't get caught.

I plan on being first in line when its time to vote. We need to vote them out. (republicans ). Then we raise the number of judges. Hopefully then we can pass the ERA, Universal healthcare, and Free education. Have the rich fund ALL of it. It could be possible if we swamp them at the election.

If these a--ho--s decide that the President has absolute immunity, it seems like that would do away with Congress's ability to impeach her/him. Period. The President could no longer be impeached and could violate all laws. Voila!, instant dictator, and do away with all restraints for a President. I haven't heard any discussion of that outcome, but at this point, I can't even believe that they took this case. I feel like we've fallen down the rabbit hole.

It’s a different process. They wouldn’t do it however, because TFG would “remove” them too, as Judge KBJ suggested there would be no end to the possibilities

Impeachment has been shown not to work.
An "immunized" president can do whatever he or she wants.

A smart partisan court would just sandbag this until 21 Jan - a re-elected Trump would get perfect immunity, and a re-elected Biden ... they'll just let the matter dissipate.

However I think they're idiots and in a bubble of their own making, and they think they can run the country from the bench with these rando decrees & then jet off to fabulous vacations with their billionaire masters - sort of like Trump himself. So they may open this possibility up.

The best thing an uninhibited president could do would be to just turn this institution off until it can be replaced.
It's completely broken and not worth tampering with as-is.
