Student 'forcibly thrown out' of Nancy Pelosi event in Dublin over 'Zionist warmonger' comments

An Irish student has been "thrown out" of a Nancy Pelosi event in Dublin. Martha Ní Riada, President of the Students' Union at University College Dublin (UCD), expressed her outrage after being "forcibly removed" from the ceremony.

The former speaker of US House of Representatives was in the Irish capital on Monday to receive the Fulbright Commission’s public service award and an award in memory of former attorney general Peter Sutherland at UCD.

In footage shared on social media, while accepting the award, Pelosi is interrupted by Martha who stands up and shouts: "Pelosi is a Zionist and a war criminal" before men in suits rush over and escort her from the room.

As she is led away, Martha can be heard shouting, "You said that support for Israel is in our DNA - no it's not! What about Palestinian women?" Pelosi appears unfazed by the outburst and continues speaking to the people gathered.

Pelosi calls for Netanyahu’s resignation

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should resign, calling him an obstacle to a two-state solution.

The big picture: Speaking about the aftermath of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack and the prime minister's counteroffensive, Pelosi said Netanyahu is ultimately responsible.

"We recognize Israel's right to protect itself. We reject the policy and the practice of Netanyahu. Terrible," she said in an interview with RTÉ's Six One News in Ireland. "What could be worse than what he has done in response?"

What she's saying: Pelosi said he has been an obstacle to peace in the region for years.

the splinter lefty Social Democrats....to the left of the Irish Labour Party but not as left as People Before Profit, and all parts left-er.
