The four main lies Republicans are going to campaign on (debunked):

The four main lies Republicans are going to campaign on:

"Crime if out of control"

Crime has dropped nationwide the last two years in a row and by a significant amount each year. Violent crime is now near a 50 year low.

"Inflation is high"

Inflation hasn't been high for 10 months. Some prices like groceries are still higher, but overall Americans had $1000 more to spend at the end of 2023 than they did at the end of 2019 before the pandemic hit.

"Biden is waging a war on US energy"

Under Biden's presidency the US has become the world leader in both production and export of oil, natural gas, and propane.

Biden also invested into green energy which has made 40% of the US power grid emissions free and that is set to increase to as high as 80% by 2030.

"Biden opened the border and refuses to address it"

Biden attempted to shut down the border after Title 42 ended. It was blocked by the courts the same as it was when Trump tried it in 2018. Biden has taken over 120 actions in attempt to address the border but his power is limited.

Congress is in charge of immigration reform. Republicans killed a bipartisan border deal that was conservative, would have made a significant difference, and had no progressive wish list items included.

1. We have to find a better answer to the second one.

"overall" hides a lot of variation. People who have to spend virtually all of their income on necessities are not personally better than they were in 2019.

Our insistence that the overall economy is better rings hollow when many of them have less money to spend now because the cost of food, especially, is so much higher - relative to their income - than in 2019.

4. The Repugs slip in mentions of it all over the place!

At a community choir concert (a community choir concert!) last night, the director was asking for donations while saying, "I know with inflation, that money is tight these days, but please spare a few dollars supporting this choir."

And every Car Shield commercial slips in a mention about "higher prices nowadays."

One that does not deny the reality that many are experiencing with regard to their paycheck not going as far as it did in 2019.

2. Of course crime is lower, the economy is pretty good. Crime and the economy go hand in hand.

Lousy economy equals high crime. People are mostly honest, but will do what they have to to survive.

7. Yea. Then when you provide it, the claim the source is bad/unreliable.

IOW, they have no argument against what you presented - and grousing about the source is their only way to justify their willful ignorance.
