Suffocating The World... about those bags...

http://www.learnstuff.com/suffocating-the-world/

You’re standing in line at the grocery store when you realize that you don’t have your reusable bag. You’ll have to get a plastic bag. Again. You feel bad for a moment and then think that it’s just one bag. But it isn’t …

In the U.S. alone, 280 billion plastic bags are used each year, which is enough to stretch around the earth nearly 30,000 times. Making and using plastic bags has more repercussions than you might think. Check out the following infographic to see how exactly plastic bags affect our cities, our environment and even our economy.

I used to think plastic bags were better because they didn't require trees being cut down. But if that statistic is correct, that only 1% of bags are recycled, that's not a good deal.

I'm going to start using my own duffel bag from now on.

It makes some sort of sense to me because it forces people to think about it.

They say it already helped reduce plastic waste in the area.

I use them for cleaning cat litter pans.

Of course, we still get too many even for that, so we save all plastic bags and drop them off at the grocery store plastic bag recycle bin.

two or three more of the reusable bags since they are only 99 cents.
I have a huge collection, which I try to keep pared down by giving them
away to my son and others who can use them.
I just feel too guilty...and besides, those plastic bags rip so easily, there have
been many times I've had to run down my sloped driveway after items fall
from a split bag and roll away and get damaged. Sometimes I find I am
simply missing a tomato or other item when I get to the kitchen.
A reusable bag is cheaper than a lost tomato!
